last night, he could not make it.

in a discussion friday night, i realized that i would have to sometime see a tridentine high mass. so looked up where st. john cantius is and i saw that it's just down the road from the place i go to church [go south a block, ride the 66, go south a block] AND THE TRIDENTINE HIGH MASS IS AT 12:30 PM. which means it's completely possible to go to the liturgy at my own church, loiter around at coffee hour, catch a bus, and then see a tridentine high mass. after all, i'm not willing to make the trek just for a tridentine high mass, though perhaps the full schedule of a first friday once lent is over would be worth it. i shall have to find a convenient week-end to do so if [since] i can rustle up interest from others.

in other news, i've decided it will be quite fine [as opposed to merely do-able] to go to my grandparents' 50th anniversary party on Great and Holy Saturday. they aren't the sort to party late, so there'll be time to make the Paschal Vigil. sure, i'll probably miss some Good Friday services as i fly and the Vesperal Liturgy of Great and Holy Saturday in the afternoon, at which some people i know will be baptised or chrismated and otherwise received into the church, but it happens. i can't help it, but i can live with it. i mean, hey, other people who fly home for Pascha [there are some who do] miss some of these services, so it's fine, it can be made to work. whatever. cheeseburger cheeseburger cheeseburger. i'll just make sure to have the traditional lunch of bread, dried figs [or other dried fruit], and wine as the typikon indicates.
