Music for the Celibate Life.

Recall a previous journal of mine about [popular] music for the married life and [popular] music for the celibate life. My findings are reported. There is not much music about the celibate life. There is The Shins' "The Celibate Life" a mention in a Belle and Sebastian song ["My celibate days are over..."], but no popular ballads about they joys of the life of a consecrated religious [not even from the man who used to do "Death to the World" but left the monastery or from the Greek monks who temporarily had a rock band before it, um, disbanded]. There are also notably few songs about baptism or holy orders [Mission of Burma has a nice song that shouts "Take me out and wash my sins away...", but that's about it on the post-punk pop front]. Scientific research has to be done.

The problem with this is, how are people going to decide anything if they don't have the objective evidence of pop songs to sway them? There are plenty of songs about the horrors of consumerist bourgeois nihilism, and look how popular it has become!
