It has come to my attention that some protestants give communion even to those who are not baptized and do so uncontroversially. WTF? Granted, the ones that I talk to that do so would not offer communion to those who deny Christ, but this still boggles the mind. And, granted, the communion of the Zwinglians and other Sacramentarians [whom Luther affectionately referred to as "the fanatics"] has no meaning whatsoever, it truly is only a sign rather than anything related to what the Church has historically taught communion to be, so it's not so important who they give it to [humans, dogs, the trashbin]. Thank God it's only complete ignorance on their part rather than a conscious and informed denial of all that is good and right and true [as will be the case with the Anglicans if they complete their move towards "open communion"].

Such confidence and knowledge of God's grace makes you happy, joyful and bold in your relationship to God and all creatures. The Holy Spirit makes this happen through faith. Because of it, you freely, willingly and joyfully do good to everyone, serve everyone, suffer all kinds of things, love and praise the God who has shown you such grace. Thus, it is just as impossible to separate faith and works as it is to separate heat and light from fire!
